First Look at “Warrior Wonder Woman”

I can’t believe the stars aligned and I finished this costume in time to debut at SOFA 2012 in Bogota, Colombia.

Inspired by an original design artist Tess Fowler and I collaborated on, the concept draws from several iterations of Wonder Woman throughout the years, peppered with original elements. While I adore Linda Carter’s version of Wonder Woman (“In your satin tights, fighting for your rights!”), I’ve always preferred the first lady of comics as a warrior. An Amazon. A total BAMF. We’ll debut the full illustration at a later date! 

I’ll also put together extensive build notes and credits soon, but a huge shout out goes to Thomas Ignatius, who’s been my leatherworking mentor over the last few months. I constructed all of the costume (armor, props, skirt, belt, and so on) aside from the corset. Having never made one this complex, Tom and I knocked out the corset over a very long day, with me playing assistant. His incredible skill with leather shines through in the shape and fit of it. Perfect. I then took the corset home detailed it with the eagle crest, rivets, and dirt/blood.

Also, a side thank you to God Save the Queen Fashions, who inspired me to try my hand at leather working!

#romanovs #hahaha OKAY a romanov sisters movie/tv series is l i t e r a l l y all i want from this life#but not by sofia coppola because like i love her but that is /not/ the feel you want for a romanov movie#it has to be russian!!! and have that really specific russian vibe to it; sharp and bleak but also loving and fierce #and like they were princesses yes; but they were also just four sisters growing up together #olga the stately one with a strong sense of duty; tatiana more reserved and very religious; #maria who adored her father and felt overshadowed but was secretly the best; anatasia the wildcat with an unbridled passion for life #they spent all their time together; GIVE ME DYNAMICS #between olga and tatiana and then anastasia and maria #and then all together and then with their mother and alexei GOD ALEXEI #nikolai and alexandria raised them with this weird balance of extravangance and discipline #and then of course you have the juxtapositions and parallels between their lives and what’s happening in russia #because they are the imperial family; in so many ways they /are/ russia #and there is nothing right about them; a royal family who gives up bread for lent while their people are starving outside #five children - four healthy strong powerful girls all overshadowed by the heir they all waited for #and who came out with a sickness that brought the corruption of rasputin and the final knell into their lives #churchill wasn’t wrong when he said russia was a mystery wrapped in a riddle inside an enimga; #and these four girls were the manifestation of that #just as they are now the symbols of the shifting tide of the modern world to us #so yes PUT ALL THAT IN A MOVIE and i’m there okay

So I liked this version of Flash Thompson a lot better than the one in the 2002 Spider-Man because he had humanizing moments like this one instead of being a two-dimensional jock stereotype.

at the end flash is almost holding his hands, not in a slash way, but in a i get it man, i understand kind oh way and it always makes my insides kinda shimmy

Also, IIRC, every incarnation of Flash in the comics was physically abused by his father. This is a big part of why Flash was a bully.

His going “Feels better?” is because Flash of all people knows that lashing out at someone else can make your own pain seem less bad for a while.
